I have started adding to the sections I am doing. How many words are we aiming for per section? Also, I am unsure how to do the referencing how Youstina has done it, so have just added in what I have for now 18514001AS (talk) 02:52, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have added in the sections allocated to me, I'm still trying to figure out referencing - it seems to have doubled up in the list. Youstinat (talk) 11:24, 1 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have also completed my parts and added it to the page. I am now going through making appropriate links to other Wikipedia pages for the readers' ease.Kmmtrn (talk) 12:17, 8 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

After some discussion during the group meeting here are the headings that we came up with

1. Geriatric Dentistry (What is it?) - Define geriatrics, geriatric dentistry, Origin of the word, other terms

2. Geriatric health

  • Ageing (The effect of an ageing population (living with the same medical conditions for longer. Eg people used to die at 75 but get dementia at 65. Now people are dying at 85 but still get dementia at 65 OR MID=older population retaining natural teeth instead of dentures) , Life expectancy, Classical vs modern ageing
  • Geriatrics as a medical specialty - Managing the geriatric patient
  • Who needs geriatric care? - Primary provider
  • Providers of geriatric care (Geriatrician, Nurses, Dentist (Geriatric dentistry speciality), Other health professionals/allied health (Physiotherapist, Nutritionist, Speech pathologist, Psychiatrist/psychologist, Podiatrist))
  • Health concerns for the aging/age related diseases and disorders

3. Dental health of Geriatric population. (include statistics)

4. Medical Conditions affecting Oral Health (meds=xerostomia, dementia, pneumonia aspiration)

5. Oral changes – e.g. pulp shrinking, angular cheilitis

6. Dental care in residential aged care facilitates

7. Barriers to effective cleaning (dexterity)

8. Dentures and edentulism

9. Practical suggestions/managing geriatric patients (different communication styles, denture cleaning, assisted cleaning)

Hey group, Kimmie, Anita and I had another look through the suggestions on the Facebook group chat as well as what's already on this wiki page. We've decided to combine some headings that overlap, and follow through with Kerry's point of keeping the structure user friendly and simple to follow. We made a google doc to make it more easy to follow updates and changes, and from there we can add to this wiki as appropriate. (Elizabeth Xu 18479078E (talk) 03:53, 24 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey guys, after doing some general research on an appropriate structure, headings & topics for the wiki page, l think we keep it as user friendly as possible. Making the structure simple to follow, therefore accessing relevant and targeted information quickly. Which relevant topics do you think we should include on our wiki site for geriatrics? Hey guys, what do you think of these for our main talking points? 1. Geriatric Dentistry (What is it?) 2. Dental health of Geriatric population. (include statistics) 3. Medical Conditions affecting Oral Health (meds=xerostomia) 4. Dental care in residential aged care facilitates 5. Barriers to effective cleaning (dexterity) 6. Practical suggestions (different communication styles, denture cleaning, assisted cleaning)(Youstina Tawadros — Preceding unsigned comment added by Youstinat (talkcontribs) 11:28, 16 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
